PRIML was founded in 2014 to provide Puerto Rico with an organized, continuous platform for mathematics competitions, collaboration and academic growth.
WHY PRIML EXISTS
Making Mathematical Talent Visible
The league emerged from a need identified by Prof. Yamila Ramírez Rodríguez: schools and educators needed clearer information, a coordinated calendar and a dependable structure for students to participate in mathematics competitions throughout the academic year.
PRIML grew into a nonprofit educational initiative focused on logical, mathematical and critical thinking, while also strengthening collaboration among teachers and schools.

Founder and current Executive President of PRIML, Prof. Yamila Ramírez Rodríguez has led the organization’s development as a platform where students can challenge themselves, teachers can collaborate and schools can celebrate mathematical excellence.

PRIML’s long-term vision is to become a leading Puerto Rico organization for mathematical talent, expand competitions and workshops, strengthen university alliances and build more educational resources for students and educators.

The Story Behind the PRIML Symbol
From Complexity to Mastery.
THE ORIGINAL IDEA — THE RUBIK'S CUBE
Complexity → Analysis → Reasoning → Solution → Mastery
The original concept used the Rubik’s Cube as a visual metaphor for mathematical problem solving. A scrambled cube represented the complexity of a problem; the solved cube represented mastery, perseverance, logical reasoning and mathematical excellence. Different faces of the cube could be understood as different mathematical disciplines and capabilities working together toward a solution.

As PRIML’s identity evolved, the central geometric symbol took on a more institutional meaning. Its geometry represents mathematical thinking, problem solving, structure and growth.
